"Popping breasts wasn't an issue"
Says Negar Khan of the raunchy 'chadti jawani meri' video fame
The sensuous Negar Khan is packing her bags to fly to India. Her new remix album Dhoom Machale will hit screens here soon. She called up MiD DAY to inform about her big return, her special bond with Salman Khan and obviously her sensual stints.
After you left the country, Indian viewers saw you only on the Internet. What kept you invisible?
I am just 24. So I was busy with my studies. I just got a degree in filmmaking.
What about your acting commitments?
I just finished with a Norwegian reality TV show Paradise Hotel. Set in a hotel, the format lets a girl choose her perfect roommate but from the opposite sex.
Is it similar to Big Boss?
Not exactly. The hotel has cameras all over, in the bathroom, the shower and everywhere else you can think of and not think of.
Were you comfortable with the show?
I wasn't when we started but later I adjusted. But I was very cautious about being shot naked. Popping breasts wasn't an issue but being shown fully naked was.
So how did you hide?
I obviously couldn't hide my breasts but I always used to go under the shower with my panties on. But even then I was shown completely nude once. May be I wasn't smart enough.
Bare assets aren't an issue with the audience here. I didn't do any nude scene intentionally. It was a part of the deal.
Was this hide-and-seek game because you're not comfortable with your body?
Absolutely not. I am extremely comfortable with my body and every part of it. It's just that my Indian values stop me from going completely nude in public.
If that's the case, why did so many of your 'offending pictures' frequent the Internet?
Moving around in a bikini isn't offending in the West. I can't be wearing a sari on the beach. And if some paparazzi is after me all the time, once in a blue moon I might be caught topless.
And what are your Indian values?
I am shy, I blush and I am emotional. I know my limits and I have a family to whom I am accountable.
Were any of the co-contestants on the show caught having sex?
Yes, many were.
And you?
I wasn't because I didn't have sex.
Was that because you're not comfortable with short stints?
I can't have sex for the heck of it. I need to feel for the person I am bedding. If he is my crush, yes I will. Else, I would rather look for emotional support.
But isn't sex a part of the emotional trip between couples?
It is, but that shouldn't be the first step of a relationship.
How is the definition of a sexy girl different in Europe than that in India?
People here think I am sweet and then I am sexy. In India, I am just a sex bomb.
Some pictures on your blog refers to homosexuality. Are you a lesbian?
I am not a lesbian. But I don't look down upon homosexuals. That's the way they're made.
Any lesbian confrontation you have ever faced?
Once a lady grabbed my bum and she wasn't ready to leave. That's all.
How did Bollywood treat you during your last stay?
The industry in Mumbai is warm, yet fast. I never had a bad experience during my stay.
And who're the people you're close to in India?
None right now but when I was there, Salman Khan treated me well. He's a man. I have met him a couple of times during parties and after as well. Also at times in his office. He's a man any girl would love to fall in love with and I was no exception. I would love to work with him, the hottest Indian hunk. I like Rahul Gandhi too. He just looks like an American actor. He's so cute.
Would you like to work with him?
Do I need to say yes?
And Shah Rukh?
I don't know him much but I would surely like to work with Sanjay Dutt.
Ever dealt with the casting couch?
No, I didn't.
Do you think it's a menace?
It is indeed. But at the same time it's present everywhere the UK, US, and India. If a director asks an aspiring actress to sleep with him, it's not professional. But if the girl agrees to his demands, then the director should not be blamed alone.
And what happened to your ex-hubby Sahil Khan?
There were many misunderstandings between us and things deteriorated so rapidly that I couldn't correct them. I haven't been in touch with him for the past four years and neither do I intend to. Thinking about him brings bad luck.
Who are you dating?
I am dating an Italian actor, who also was my ex-boyfriend.
And what is this Dhoom Machale song about?
It's a remix of the Bollywood action series Dhoom. I have sung the new version. It's ruling the charts in Norway.
Will you have a different version of videos an explicit one for the overseas market and a subtle one for Indian viewers?
We haven't shot the video yet but we don't intend to shoot different videos because kids who will be watching the videos are same all over
